FLOW Reception and Artwork

We had a lovely gathering at the Patten Free Library on Wednseday, December 4th to celebrate year #6 of FLOW. You can read about the reception in this article that appeared in the Portland Press Herald. Thank you to The Patten Free Library for generously offering their community room to us, and to Chewonki for the catered snacks.

It's hard to believe we've been at it since 2014! The participants from the first year of FLOW are now out of High School, and I can only hope their time on the water with classmates in 8th grade serves as a handrail as they make their way in the world.

Below is a gallery of the artwork created by students who went on this year's FLOW trips. Thanks again to the hard work and bottomless talent of our art educators, Jackie Johnson and Laura Devin. It's a real treat for me to get some quiet time alone with these paintings as I photograph them. It reaffirms for me how much FLOW means to the kids. Their feelings and insights jump off the canvas at me. Take a look for yourselves, and hopefully you'll get a sense of what this trip was like through the eyes of the kids.

See you next fall!
