Please Get Those Medical Forms In!

Beginning this year, medical forms for FLOW can and should be turned in before the end of the school year.

RSU 1 is so fortunate to be partnering with The Chewonki Foundation for our FLOW programming. Chewonki has been a leader in running outdoor, adventure-based trips for over a century, and they have a highly evolved set of procedures, protocols and practices that ensure great experiences for participants. One of the key procedures when  preparing for trips is gathering and analyzing in-depth information of each participant's medical status and needs.

In previous years, students were not permitted to submit health forms for the fall until the start of  the school year. This was to make sure that all medical information was up to date. Unfortunately, this presented a serious challenge since FLOW trips begin so close to the the start of the school year. Health forms were coming in late, and the Chewonki medical staff was burdened with the task of processing all the information in a very short amount of time. After a number of conversations between our organizations, we came up with a good solution. Health forms for the fall can now be submitted in the preceding spring. This takes small change will go a long way towards streamlining FLOW.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached via email at lkovacs@rsu1.org.
